Sankar Foundation (Registered No. 9485/84) is a Charitable Trust. Its core value is SERVICE TO MAN IS SERVICE TO GOD”. Our institution is registered with Income Tax Department and obtained PAN, Section 10 (23C), 12 A, 17 (2) (b), 80G, and also attained Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) account with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Our eye institute has been in operation since inception, the year 1997. We are serving the population in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, East Godavari Districts of Andhra Pradesh and bordering districts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
We have raised funds from donors, and Corporate Social Responsible (CSR) collaboration for construction of biggest modern Hospital building at Simhachalam, Visakhapatnam to establish City Hospital at Maddilapalem, to start satellite Vision Centers; to procure infrastructure, equipment, and support for organizing rural-community free eye care outreach projects.
Each of these components has been titled after its patron, in recognition of their love, kind gesture, and generous support. For further modernizing/replacing worn-out equipment for these institutions, we depend on your gift, bequeath and Corporate Social Responsible collaboration. Your continuous support may enable us to strengthen the existing infrastructure and /or upgrade our clinical facilities.
The Institute was among the 2,000 eye Institutions in six countries selected for a visit by former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom John Major.

Sankar Foundation Super Speciality Eye Institute with sub-specialities :
Anterior Segment and Posterior segment, Vitreo-Retinal Services, Cornea, Glaucoma, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Low-vision rehabilitation and Orbit and Oculoplasty.
Medical Education in Ophthalmology:
Fellowship Programmes, DNB.
Paramedical Education:
Ophthalmic Assistant (DOA) for 30 students and Diploma Course in Ophthalmic Technician (DOM).
A project “Sri Venkateswara Sravanam Institute”
(For Children with Hearing Impairment), Visakhapatnam Sub-Centre. 100% sponsored by TIRUMALA TIRUPATHI DEVASTHANAMS.

Our eye Institute has three categories of services:
1.Paid Services: in “A-Block” at the base institute, at City Centres, Vision Centres and City Hospital.
2.Free services: in “B-Block” at the base institute and in Rural Camps. (For Below poverty line / White Ration Card holders.)
- We have full-fledged super- speciality clinics including Anterior Segment and Posterior segment, Vitreo-Retinal Services, Cornea, Glaucoma, Paediatric Ophthalmology, and Orbit and Oculoplasty.
- Our institute is managed by 18 highly-qualified eye specialists with combined experience of over 228 years.
- Our eye specialists and the team think from the patient's perspective, check the patient’s health condition and the kind of problems they are facing. We give the best treatment to serve the eye patients.
- Outpatient Hours: 8:30 is to 5:30 pm. *Eye Emergency 24x7.
- Walk-in appointments are seen on a first come first served basis on all working days.

3.Donors and Corporate Social Responsible (CSR) collaboration.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has alienated two acres of land to us at the foothills of Simhachalam, Visakhapatnam.
Knowing about our social work being rendered in the field of community eye care, Sir John Major, Former Prime Minister UK visited our institute and performed the Laying of Foundation Stone Ceremony of our new Hospital building on 5th April 2005. Lord Mervyn Davies, The Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank was also accompanied by Sir John Major and sanctioned an amount of Rs.2.26 Crores towards our institute building fund. We have constructed the state-of-the-art modern eye institute building with one lakh Square feet built-up area, on this land by procuring funds from Corporate-CSR initiative and donors.
