Frequently Asked Questions
What is cashless hospitalization?+
Under a cashless facility, the insurance company or TPA directly pays the hospital for treatment costs covered under your policy. The policyholder does not need to pay the medical bill to the hospital, except for any non-medical/excluded expenses or pre-agreed co-payment percentages.
How long does the pre-authorization approval process take?+
Typically, once all required medical reports and query responses are submitted by our desk, the TPA or insurance company takes about 2 to 6 hours to issue the initial pre-authorization. For planned surgeries, it is best to submit documents at least 24 hours in advance.
What documents must I present at the insurance helpdesk?+
Please bring your original Health Insurance Card/TPA Card, a valid Government Photo ID (Aadhar, PAN, or Passport), the doctor's consultation sheet, prescription, relevant diagnostics/scans, and a cancelled check (if requested for claim setup).
Does health insurance cover outpatient (OPD) consultation and diagnostics?+
Most general health insurance policies cover inpatient treatments (requiring hospital stay or day-care surgery like cataracts). Regular OPD doctor consultations, glasses, and routine diagnostics are usually paid out-of-pocket, unless you have specific OPD cover rider benefits. Please verify with your insurer.
What happens if my cashless approval is denied or partially approved?+
If the cashless claim is denied, you can pay the hospital bill directly and apply for reimbursement from your insurance company post-discharge by submitting all medical bills and discharge summaries. For partial approvals, the patient is required to pay the remaining balance before discharge.
