Clinical Fellowship

Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology

Lead Faculty: Dr. Krishna Prasad, Dr. T. Raveendra, Dr. Nasrin, Dr. Sowmya, Dr. Sirisha, Dr. S Lakshmi, Dr. P Manjuvalli

Train to develop advanced diagnostic skills and surgical independence across all key ophthalmic domains.

Key Training Areas:

  • Clinical assessment & judgement, refraction, keratometry, lensometry, and biometry.
  • Medical management of Glaucoma, Uveitis, and first-line Neuro-ophthalmic conditions.
  • Refractive errors, amblyopia, and pediatric squint profiling.
  • Diabetic retinopathy screening, laser referrals, and identifying retinal tears/detachment.
  • Surgical workload: Complete cataract surgeries with IOL (including guaranteed 1000 SICS surgeries), Phacoemulsification, DCR, chalazion, lid lacerations, ocular trauma, and Trabeculectomy.
Academic Commitment: Fellows take part in community outreach eye screening camps, attend weekly didactic lectures, and are expected to complete clinical research submissions during their tenure.
Clinical Fellowship

Fellowship in the Anterior Segment

Lead Faculty: Dr. Pallem Krishna Prasad (MBBS, MS)

Comprehensive rotation across general ophthalmology, cornea, and glaucoma with high surgical volume.

Key Training Areas:

  • Fellows rotate through general segments, Cornea, and Glaucoma clinics.
  • Attend regular OPDs, specialized diagnostics, and surgical theatres with observer scopes and video systems.
  • Guaranteed stitch-free SICS and Phaco cataract surgeries under expert supervision.
  • Exposure to corneal pathology, glaucoma workups, and refractive evaluations.
  • Outreach camp surgical postings to manage a wide range of settings.

Clinical Fellowship

Fellowship in Glaucoma

Lead Faculty: Dr. Tamineni Raveendra (MBBS, MS, FAICO, FIGO)

Advanced glaucoma diagnostics, long-term therapeutic care, and surgical interventions.

Key Training Areas:

  • In-depth training in Glaucoma OPD evaluations, optic disc charting, and gonioscopy.
  • Proficiency in analyzing Visual Field tests (Humphrey perimeter) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).
  • Surgical training in Trabeculectomy, combined procedures (Phaco-Trab), and glaucoma drainage devices.
  • Hands-on experience with SLT and YAG Laser peripheral iridotomy.

Clinical Fellowship

Fellowship in Cornea & Refractive

Lead Faculty: Dr. Nasrin (MBBS, DO, DNB, FICS)

Expert training in corneal transplants, refractive surgeries, dry eye, and ocular surface diseases.

Key Training Areas:

  • Exposure to Keratoconus Clinic, Dry Eye Clinic, and refractive laser surgeries.
  • Advanced diagnostics: Anterior Segment OCT, Specular Microscopy, Sirius Corneal Topography, and UVX for C3R.
  • Hands-on training in Keratoplasties (Therapeutic KP, Penetrating KP, DALK, DSAEK, PDEK).
  • Assisting and mentoring junior DNB residents and fellows.
  • Active involvement with the Sankar Foundation Eye Bank partner network.

Clinical Fellowship

Fellowship in Retina

Lead Faculty: Dr. Talabhaktula Krishna (MBBS, DO, FIVRS)

Comprehensive medical and surgical retina program focused on vitreous disorders and macular diseases.

Key Training Areas:

  • Advanced retina diagnostics including OCT-Angiography, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA), and B-Scans.
  • Diabetic Retinopathy screening and photocoagulation laser therapy.
  • Hands-on administration of Intravitreal Anti-VEGF injections and steroid implants.
  • Surgical training in vitrectomy for retinal detachment, vitreous hemorrhage, and macular holes.

Clinical Fellowship

Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology

Lead Faculty: Dr. Ghantasala Suparna (MBBS, DO, FIPO)

Comprehensive clinical and surgical pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus program.

Key Training Areas:

  • Diagnose and manage refractive errors in infants, pre-school, and school children.
  • Management of amblyopia, asthenopia, allergic disorders, and squint (both medical & surgical).
  • Pediatric cataract surgery and specialized IOL power calculations (biometry under anesthesia).
  • Management of pediatric neuro-ophthalmological and congenital eye problems.

Clinical Fellowship

Fellowship in Orbit & Oculoplasty

Lead Faculty: Dr. Nakka Jaya Sirisha (MBBS, DO, FIOP)

24-month program in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the orbital and eyelid regions.

Key Training Areas:

  • Lid conditions: Infections, entropion, ectropion, ptosis, and lid colobomas.
  • Lacrimal drainage diseases: Acute and chronic dacryocystitis, lacrimal gland tumors.
  • Diagnosis and management of Thyroid Eye Disease and orbital space occupying lesions.
  • Repair of lid and orbital injuries, including complex canalicular tears.
  • Includes dedicated training in Phacoemulsification during the final 6 months.
